Fairhaven Challenge Recap – Triple Crown Victory in Oswego NY
Lake Ontario - Monroe, NY
We had nice weather and a great group of Guys to fish the Fairhaven Challenge with. We had ton of bites today but had a hard time keeping them hooked and having odd things happen. I guess we can’t always have things go perfect in life. But we do try our hardest. I believe we had one of those 10/25 days on the lake and it seems like the big boys wanted to remain safely in the lake. If you have been following us all season I’m sure you have seen we were chasing an Atomik Series Triple crown trophy. We have been leading since late June after and 4th and 2nd place finishes we had early in the series. Well since they take your best 2 finishes we were sitting in the Top spot. Today we had a less than heavy box of fish. We had enough points to come away with the win and the perpetual trophy. Our name will be added to other great teams and their year. We keep this at our home until next August when we will pass it on. A little backstory of this Triple Crown, Andrea and I have fished it 3 times and have actually won 2nd 3rd and 1st place! Over the years we have been in first place tournament finishes in Key West , FL Oak Bluffs MA, The Winni Derby in NH and Now a win in Oswego NY. Winning fish have included Giant Mahi Mahi, heavyweight Big Eye tuna, big ole NH Lake trout, NY browns and mighty Kings salmon. Feeling fulfilled over our win. Another little funny ditty about my tournament wins, I never got a trophy with a stinking fish on top, finally in the Little Salmon River Shootout I got my fish trophy so today makes number 2. We have plaques, bowls, ice buckets, wood carvings, tumblers, hats, shirts, jackets, a boat, and a couple dollars!
